A friend and I started a small Instagram account to review our favorite beverage: coffee! It’s become a fun way for us to bond, explore new shops, and share our favorites. Through this project, we’ve been able to visit some amazing cafés and create content together. Here are a few examples of my work and some of the reviews I’ve written.

Is La La Land worth the hype?

La La Land Kind Cafe has been the latest booming coffee trend throughout the nation. They have opened up locations in California, Texas, and Tennessee. I attended the one in Nashville which was located on the popular street 12 South.

When I arrived, the line was out the door. Thankfully, they offer an order-ahead option, which I used about an hour in advance, definitely a time-saver!

Day One: The Upside Down Latte
Yes, I went multiple days, for research, of course! On my first visit, I tried the Upside Down Latte, one of their signature drinks. It was a sugar bomb in a cup. While the vanilla and caramel combo was tasty, it was a bit too sweet for my personal taste.

Day Two: French Toast Latte & Strawberry Matcha
On my second visit, I chose for the French Toast Latte, half sweet. This one was more my style! The hint of maple and cinnamon was perfect without taking to much away from the coffee flavor. A friend of mine ordered the Strawberry Matcha, which was refreshing, and perfect for a warm day. I do enjoy a good matcha every once and awhile, so this one really hit the spot!

The Vibe
The aesthetic of the cafe is adorable. The cups featured Disney characters, and the signature yellow branding is super eye-catching and fun. The vibe is more modern and trendy than your typical local, cozy coffee shop — definitely Instagram-worthy.

So, is it worth the hype?
In my opinion — yes, IF the line isn’t outrageous. Personally, I wouldn’t wait an hour just to grab a coffee (my patience is limited), but the mobile ordering option makes things a lot more manageable.

I’m glad I got to try La La Land Kind Cafe and overall, I did enjoy my drinks. Just don’t expect to see me waiting hours in line. I have yet to find a coffee that is worth a LONGGGG line.

Salento - West Palm Beach, Florida

If you’re ever walking down Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach, do yourself a favor and stop by Salento, a Colombian coffee shop that’s quickly become a favorite among locals.

What I Ordered

I went with their specialty drink – the Iced Mexican Latte with almond milk – and let me tell you, I’m still thinking about it.

Sips & Thoughts

The flavor of the Colombian coffee was incredibly fresh – you could tell they know their beans. It had that smooth, well-rounded taste that only comes from quality sourcing and expert roasting. The overall flavor of the drink was exceptional – a light, foamy texture with just the right amount of sweetness that complemented the espresso without overpowering it.

Although I did not try bakery or food options at Salento, They had a decent selection of food options including sandwiches and toasts. Their baked good section was on the smaller side compared to some but did included a variety of pastries.

Final Scorecard

Iced Mexican Latte: 10/10

Food Options: 8/10

Ambiance: 5/10
